Christopher De Boer is a first year surgical resident at UCSF East Bay. He is working with CGSS to conduct cost-effectiveness analyses of general surgery interventions in Soroti, Uganda. In the past, he obtained a Masters of Science in Global Health degree from Duke University where his thesis focused on treatment delays for Kaposi sarcoma patients at the Uganda Cancer Institute. He has also completed work on small bowel perforations as a complication of typhoid fever in southwestern Uganda. His research interests include surgical disparities, trauma and violence prevention, and global funding mechanisms for surgery in low- and middle- income countries.
